École Démosthène had their first Peace Week in May 2015. The students enjoyed the following peace building activities throughout the week:
They created peace pinwheels.
They broadened their horizons by learning about great world leaders and their inspirational quotes.
They wrote post-it notes about each other’s positive traits.
They began a Peace-pal Movement during recess time where the assigned peace-pals intervene in schoolyard conflicts on a daily basis.
They will also receive a ‘Peace-pal Certificate’ at the end of the school year. (Program for cycle 3 volunteers only).
They took part in a daily challenge and used a daily inspirational quote as food for thought throughout the day.
They discussed and shared stories about ‘anti-bullying’ and ‘stand-up to bullying’.
They established a peace motto for their school.
Our week was a success!
