Apokries is the equivalent of the traditional Mardi Gras carnival for the Greeks. The students of Socrates V and the Annex celebrated it on March 11th by getting dressed up in costumes.
Then, to mark the beginning of Lent, as is still the tradition in Greece, the students of the Emerson Street campus as well as that of the Annex celebrated Kite Day, on Monday March 15th.
Each group was invited to decorate their classroom door with miniature kites they had made. Mrs. Maria Tsiorvas group, 331, won first prize in this competition. Each student has received a nice kite that they can use this spring.
During this day, our Parents’ Committee gave a snack to our students to mark the first day of Lent.
A great way to prepare for Easter!
