SPECIAL HCGM GENERAL ASSEMBLY
Sunday 14 October 2018 at 12:00pm
Holy Cross Church Hall
Dear Friends,
The Hellenic Community of Greater Montreal is cordially convening all its members to a historic General Assembly to decide to accept a $10 million (net) offer for the sale of the old Holy Trinity property on Sherbrooke between St-Laurent and Clark.
This is a glorious opportunity for the HCGM, its members and stakeholders. The benefits to Community are enormous:
  • For the first time in a generation, the Community will be debt free
  • Some $7.5 million will be used to eliminate completely the remaining debt accumulated over time to finance the community centers, schools and churches that were purchased or built by the HCGM
  • The remain $2.5 million will be reinvested in new projects like the proposed Laval Community (Cultural-Athletic-Educational) Center
  • Close to $800,000 a year in capital and interest servicing this debt will be saved and reinvested in services and in properly maintaining all the other HCGM real-estate assets.
The schools of the HCGM stand the most to gain. By eliminating the debt and the burden to service it, greatly increases cash flow that will be used to:
  • Keep tuition and service fees in check
  • Provide desperately needed support services to students with learning difficulties
  • Drastically improve the maintenance and upkeep of our school buildings
  • Invest further in new technologies and equipment
  • Provide resources to improve programs.
All this will lead to increased enrollment which will:
  • Help sustain our campuses wherever they might be located
  • Assure that our schools will be there for all the generations to come.
The preservation of Hellenism in Quebec is at stake. If there ever was a time to voice your support through your vote, this is it. If you care about your children’s future and the future of their children, you must come out and vote.
The General Assembly will be held in the Hall of Holy Cross Church, 4865 du Souvenir, Laval, at 12:00pm. For your convenience refreshments will be offered. And to better accommodate young families, a daycare supervised by our educators, in the Hall, will be available at no charge for young children.
To assure you get a clear view of all the facts, presentations will be projected via power-point and be available in paper format. All pertinent documentation will also be forwarded to our families, members and stakeholders in advance of the General Assembly for review.
Only active members can vote. You can register to vote at the General Assembly or do it in advance. For more information please write to us at:  info@hcgm.org or call us at 514-738-2421, ext. 231.
This is a win-win-win situation for our youth, for our future and for Hellenism. It is now in your hands. Make your vote count.
