On October 23rd, the nightingales of our school, Socrates-Demosthenes, joined the elementary students of more than 25 other schools in the Montreal area as part of a unique event. They were treated like stars.
Transported by limousine to the reception hall of the Palace Reception Hall, our young performers entered the hall on a red carpet surrounded by their biggest fans: parents, teachers and enthusiastic administrators of their schools, including Chris Filandrianos, the director of Socrates III.
Smiling and greeting the local press and photographers that lit up the lobby with their flashes, it was their day to shine, at a launch party of 2,000 invitational seats.
The Carnival of Wonders and Monsters is a large international co-production of Chroma Musika (Montreal) and the famous Quebec publishing house Planète Rebelle under the direction of our choral conductors Maria Diamantis and Dimitris Ilias, written by Mihalis Makropoulos, illustrated by Katerina Veroutsos, music and lyrics written by Giannis Georgantelis.
Mr. Ilias and Chris Adamopoulos, the Director General of the Socrates-Demosthenes School delivered short speeches, emphasizing the importance of spreading Greek culture outside the confines of our community, the students of Socrates-Demosthenes being the best ambassadors .
