On Thursaday, March 19th the students of Socrates II had the great joy of receiving a visit and performance from Ross Daly and his band.
Ross Daly is a composer and musician of irish descent. He has been studying the violin and classic guitar from a young age. In 1975 he moved to the island of Crete and learned to play the cretan lyra with Kosta Mountakis.
In 1892 he founded the group Labyrinth with Periklis Papetropoulos. Since 2003 he has been overseeing a school of traditional music; The musical Labyrith Workshop which is known worldwide. It is this well known artist who came to visit our students with his colleagues to explain to them his music and his artistry in an impeccable greek and to have them dance to the sounds of his lyra. Students and staff alike will remember the moment for a long time!
We thank the cretan association of Montreal for arranging this wonderful encounter.
