Socrates-Demosthenes at the Saint Patrick’s Day Parade
On March 19, 2017, a delegation of 49 students from École Socrate-Démosthène participated in the 194th St. Patrick’s Day parade in Montreal.

They proudly represented not only their school, but the Hellenic Community of Greater Montreal as a whole.
The delegation consisted of flag bearers, drum corps … as well as many voluntary parents and employees of the CHGM.

At the beginning of the parade, on René-Lévesque in front of the Ital.co restaurant, Mr Jimmy Prattas, relative of a student at the Socrates V campus and owner of the restaurant, kindly took care of the comfort of our delegation by offering drinks and rest. You can also see on the photo below Harry Babaroutsis, our favorite photographer who immortalizes each of our events and we thank him for it.

Consolidating the tradition of participation started last year, our delegation can boast of the enthusiasm of the crowds throughout the parade.

They illustrated by their very presence, the unity and the collaboration between the Irish and Greek communities.

The children walked with their heads held high and played exceptionally, encouraged by the energy of the spectators whom they undoubtedly attracted attention. The ground trembled under their feet. They will remember for a long time the very moment they marched on St. Catherine Street with people from all over Ireland.
We thank all the children, the CHGM employees and the volunteers whose determination and persistent work are the reason why this event took place perfectly.

A special thanks to Alex Fragakis and Odysseas Falagaras, the drum instructors.
They worked patiently for weeks with the students to achieve this splendid result.
