As part of their Greek courses, our students created a monthly magazine with the evocative name of “Σωκ-ondaire”. They discuss the various aspects of their adolescent life and their many interests. The magazine also contains an interview and, this month, they made an appointment with Mary Deros, councilor of Villeray-Saint-Michel-Parc-Extension and associated with the mayor of Montreal.
Mrs. Deros warmly welcomed them to the Town Hall of her borough with the director, Georgia Tsakalis, showing them the place in great detail about the history of the place. She then offered them hot chocolate and muffins while she kindly answered their questions. They wanted to know everything: how she came to her post, what her work was, how important the Greek language was in her life, how her children went to Socrates-Demosthenes School, and so on.
The students returned from the interview informed and astonished: they viewed public service and the people who commit themselves to it differently.
If you want more details, do not hesitate to claim your copy of the “Σωκ-ondaire”
