The English Department in our school has applied to join Peaceful Schools International. What is Peaceful Schools International?
PSI is a charitable organization run by volunteers. They support schools around the world who have made a commitment to creating and maintaining a culture of peace.
A peaceful school is one in which students, teachers, and parents work together to ensure that everyone feels safe, valued, and respected.
We, at École Démosthène, believe in fostering an environment where our students can resolve conflict peacefully, no matter the nature or gravity of the given situation.
Some of the activities we have engaged in, thus far, include:
– introducing students to Peaceful Schools International’s mission
– celebrating Gossip-free Day
– incorporating a Buddy Bench in our schoolyard
– watching a theater production called, “Game Changers”, about acceptance and differences based on the Charter Of Values.
